Sage account – How to sign up to 2-factor authentication (2FA)

2-factor authentication adds extra security to your Sage account. Every time you log in, you need to provide a code to verify it’s you.

Once you setup 2FA, you can opt to have your Sage product ‘remember’ you for the next time you log in.

We recommend that you always set up your own user login details rather than sharing login details, as 2FA security is designed for individual user authentication.

Set up 2-factor authentication

  1. Log in to the Account management area (opens in a new tab).
  2. Select 2-factor authentication and then Send email.
  3. You’ll receive an email to enrol in 2FA. Use the link in the email to set up 2FA on your account.
  4. Choose from the three different ways to authenticate.

Different ways to authenticate

Authenticator apps – *recommended*

Sage 2FA is compatible with most authenticator apps. A few of the best known are Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator and Authy Authenticator.

  1. Simply download the app of your choice from your App Store on iPhones or from Google Play on Android phones.
  2. Use the authenticator app to scan the QR code, then enter the 6-digit code generated by the app and select Continue.
  3. Record the recovery code and store it in a safe location. You will need this code to access your account if you do not have access to your mobile phone to retrieve the one-time passcode when logging in to your account.
  4. Select the I have recorded my recovery code checkbox, then Continue.

Once you have completed these steps, 2FA is activated and you will begin to receive codes to your mobile device when logging in to your product or service.
